Kowloon West vs. HK-side

I am currently living in NT but with my LO possibly joining playgroups and nursery schools next year, we are thinking of moving to Kowloon West or back to HK-side (Kennedy Rd or mid-levels east) to avoid a long commute to her school.

1) What is the environment like in the Kowloon West area?

2) What are the advantages/disadvantages of Kowloon West versus Island-side, in terms of space, pricing and facilities?
